Every year there are new PhD projects with several UK Universities addressing plasma physics, materials science and fusion engineering associated with tokamaks, providing a range of exciting research opportunities. The projects range from the theoretical, through computational modelling, to experimental studies. Most students are based at Culham, while some are based at their university. All have both a Culham and a university supervisor.
We are holding an Open Day at Culham for students interested in a PhD in fusion research on 25 November.
To book a place please go to www.culhamphd.org.uk
In October 2009 we will start a broad range of around ten PhD projects with about eight different university departments. If you are interested in a PhD project with us contact martin.obrien@ukaea.org.uk indicating your approximate area of interest and, if possible, we will put you in touch with a relevant university department.
The universities below are advertising new positions for October (other starting dates may be possible), and we will include links to relevant pages of other universities when these are available.
